Awantipore (J&K):
In a major victory for the security forces, Hizbul Mujahideen's district commander, Parvaiz Ahmad Dar alias Musharaf, was killed in an encounter in South Kashmir's Awantipore area on Saturday. Parvaiz was active in the area since 1997.
The gun fight started after police and Army launched an operation against the terrorists holed up in a house at Jungle Nad area and lasted for few hours.
According to reports, one Army person also sustained minor injury. Another terrorist is also suspected to have been killed and his body is believed to be trapped inside the house rubble.
