Kolkata:

Holi is still a couple of weeks away but in Kolkata, some children got together to celebrate it early. In fancy dress, as politicians. The stars of the show: Mamata Banerjee, Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal.

In real life the three leaders are at daggers drawn. But in this make-believe world, their chemistry was sizzling.

Mamata and Narendra Modi played Holi together, again and again and again, for cameramen who doubt they will ever get the originals in the same frame.

There was Kejriwal too, with the cap and jhadoo, who kept photo-bombing Mamata and Modi.

Jayalalithaa, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Lalu Prasad and Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee did not get the time of day.

Sudeshna Basu, a visitor, was charmed. "My favourites were Mamata and Modi, obviously, because we would like to see in real life this kind of unity."

The event was organized by the state's cable TV and MSO operators, who are currently holding an exhibition in Kolkata.

"Mamata and Narendra Modi seemed the most popular," said Pawan Jajodia, chairman of the Cable TV Show 2015. Unlike in real life, Kejriwal was "kind of quiet, looking around with his jhadoo where to clean."

For local journalists though, a big moment was Mamata playing Holi with Mukul Roy, the party lawmaker with whom she has lately fallen out.

But the star duo, easily, was Modi-Mamata -- in child's play, of course. In real life, who knows? Politics, they say, is the art of the possible.
