IAS officer facing vigilance case, family found dead
Bargarh (Orissa):

A senior IAS officer, Jagadananda Panda, and his family were found dead under mysterious circumstances in Bargarh district of Orissa on Thursday night.

Panda, his wife, his father and two sisters have bullet injuries on their bodies. His son, who is also critically injured, is battling for life at the Burla medical college hospital in Sambalpur.

Initial reports suggest the IAS officer used his personal revolver to shoot family members and himself.

Panda was Protector General of Emigrants in the Ministry of India Overseas in New Delhi.

Reports say he had returned to his native village only a day ago and was in a depressed state of mind following a vigilance case against him. Sources say there was a CBI raid on his house recently in connection with an emigration scam.
