I am not defying the party: Vasundhra

New Delhi: After initial reports of a standoff between Vasundhra Raje and party president Rajnath Singh, the party seems to have arrived at some sort of an understanding with her. She is holding the Legislature Party meeting right now.

Reports on Tuesday said that talks between Raje and Rajnath had failed and that the former Rajasthan CM left Delhi in a huff after the BJP chief rejected her conditions for stepping down. But Raje told NDTV that there was no breakdown in talks. "I am not defying the party," she said.

She also said that she would come to Delhi after two days to meet with the party leadership amid reports that she was likely to step down on the 30th of this month.
The other crisis that the BJP faces is how to tackle Arun Shourie, especially after his outburst against the party leadership.

Shourie has been merely asked to clarify the comments he made in an interview to NDTV where he called the party president Alice in Blunderland and described the leadership as Humpty Dumpty.

"If they have asked for clarifications I will give," Shourie said on Tuesday.

The BJP is in a dilemma over how to tackle its dissenters - Rajya Sabha MP Arun Shourie and Rajasthan's Leader of Opposition Vasundhara Raje Scindia.

After all the flak it has received over the summary expulsion of senior leader Jaswant Singh and the growing perception that it's a party in crisis, the party leadership seems to be keen to shed that tag and is treading cautiously.
