Hyderabad:
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Monday formally inaugurated the country's longest flyover, the P V Narasimha Rao Elevated Expressway.
The 11.6-km long elevated expressway connects Mehdipatnam in the city to Aramgarh Junction on the National Highway-7 leading to the Hyderabad International Airport at Shamshabad.
The PVNR Elevated Expressway was built at a cost of Rs 430 crore while a few other works related to the flyover are still pending.
Three up and down ramps to enable vehicles to take a detour from the 11.6-km flyover at different places are yet to be built and it may take more than one year for them to be in place.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by his Cabinet colleagues P Sabita Indra Reddy, Aanam Ramanarayana Reddy, Chief Secretary P Ramakanth Reddy, Hyderabad district Collector Navin Mittal and a host of other public representatives and officials took a tour on the elevated expressway.
He stopped mid-way to inspect the construction of ramps and inaugurated the central lighting system.
