New Delhi:
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley briefed the media today today after the Centre's meeting with all state food ministers to discuss strategies to jointly combat the crisis.
Here are the highlights of his speech:
- During July-December every year, prices of some food items increase because of hoarding
- Onion prices are lower than last year, so there is no panic situation
- Hoarders are taking advantage of the forecast of below normal monsoon
- State governments should take stern action against hoarders to rein in prices; Centre will give complete support
