High Court Stays Transfer Order of Vyapam Whistleblower

A total of 36 people connected to Vyapam issue have died so far.

Bhopal: The Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has put a stay on the transfer order of Vyapam scam whistleblower Dr Anand Rai and his wife, both of whom are government employees.

The case will be heard again on Friday.

On August 3, days after Dr Rai was transferred from Indore to Dhar, his wife, who is a doctor too, was transferred to Dhar as well.

Dr Rai has claimed the state government had been punishing him through the posting. Claiming he would be unsafe in Dhar, Dr Rai has not joined work there. Instead, he has challenged the transfer order in court.

Dr Rai has also alleged that the state government is harassing him and his family for exposing various aspects of the Vyapam scam and his wife's transfer has been made against the rules as she is on probation.

This was the second time in about a month that he has been transferred -- from Mhow to Ujjain and now to Dhar.

The Vyapam scam -- a huge admission and recruitment racket that allegedly involves top bureaucrats and politicians - has became a huge controversy, with 36 people directly or indirectly linked to it dying.

In an interview to  directly or NDTV, Dr Rai had said he had received threats. "One of the main accused, Jagdish Sagar, called me and said he will not spare me," Dr Rai had said. He said he got security only after he approached the High Court.
