Hemkund Sahib Closure Ushers End of This Year's Char Dham Yatra

The passage, which opened for pilgrimage on June 1 this year, was closed around noon today amidst the chanting of Gurubani.

Dehradun: Hemkund Sahib, the Sikh place of worship in Uttarakhand, announced its closure today with the onset of winters.

The shutting of the passage to Hemkund Sahib set in mountains of Uttarakhand's Chamoli also hints at the end of the Hindu pilgrimage Char Dham Yatra.

The passage, which opened for pilgrimage on June 1 this year, was closed around noon today amidst the chanting of Gurubani.

Next in line to be closed are Gangotri and Yamunotri, the source of the Ganga and the Yamuna rivers respectively.

The shrines opened on the April 21 this year and will close on the November 12 and 13 respectively.

The dates for the closure of Badrinath and Kedarnath will be announced around Dusshera.

The annual Chardham Yatra which begins in the month of April to May from Yamunotri to Gangotri proceeding to Kedarnath terminates at Badrinath.
