Heavy Rain Disrupts Normal Life in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Heavy rain lashed most parts of Gujarat in the last 24 hours disrupting normal life.

Several parts of Ahmedabad, including both eastern and western regions, witnessed water logging even as the administration ordered the closure of schools in the city.

Airport officials said that low visibility in the early hours of the morning coupled by torrential rain had led to six flights being diverted. However, services at the airport have since normalized.

Met officials said the state could receive more rainfall in the next 24 hours.

Television footage showed people wading through knee-deep water at an important intersection in the city.

In Valsad town in south Gujarat, around 100 families had to be shifted to safer places due to inundation of the low lying areas.
