Haryana, Maharashtra Assembly Poll Dates Likely to be Announced Today
New Delhi: The Election Commission is likely to announce poll dates for Haryana and Maharashtra Assembly polls around 4:30 pm today.

Both Maharashtra (with 288 Assembly seats) and Haryana (90 seats) are likely to have single phase polls.

The term of the Haryana Assembly ends on October 27 and that of Maharashtra on November 8. Both states are presently ruled by the Congress.

Elections are also scheduled to be held in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand this year. The dates for elections here are likely to be announced after the first phase.

The legislative assembly of Jammu and Kashmir comprises 87 members, while that of Jharkhand comprises 81 members.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, which got a thumping victory in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year, hopes to repeat its winning streak in the assembly polls too. Party president Amit Shah has said he is confident that his party will form governments in all four states.
