Grandmother Of Soldier Captured by Pak Dies After Hearing News

New Delhi: In a tragic turn of events, grandmother of Chandu Babulal Chohan, the soldier in Pakistan captivity died after hearing the news.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his sorrow and spoke to the family of the soldier.

The Home Minister telephoned the family Chandu Babulal Chohan who belong to Dhule in Maharashtra after learning about the death of his grandmother.

Sources said the soldier's grandmother died after hearing the news that he has been captured by Pakistani forces.

Mr Singh assured the 22-year-old's family members that the government is doing its best to bring back home the soldier safe.

Army sources had said yesterday that "one soldier from 37 RR with weapon has inadvertently crossed over to the other side of the Line of Control. Pakistan has been informed by the DGMO on the hotline."

The sources said his crossing over was not related to the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army at terror launch pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

Earlier, the Home Minister said the government has taken note of the reports which stated that an Indian soldier is in Pakistan's captivity and all attempts were being made to secure his release.
