New Delhi:

Government plans to re-work the nearly Rs 1,000 crore revival package for Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT), Union Minister Ananth Kumar said today and also asserted that steps would be taken to revive the state-run fertiliser firm.

"I entirely agree that FACT is the mother of fertiliser plants in the country... we have to come out with a new revival plan," the Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister told the Lok Sabha during Question Hour.

Last year, the Ministry had proposed a nearly Rs 1,000 crore revival package for FACT - which has been facing financial constraints for quite some time.

The revival package has been sent to the Finance Ministry and the Cabinet but "I think it needs to be re-worked", Mr Kumar said while adding that various steps have been taken to revive the plant.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed that the endeavour should be to ensure the FACT continues to function and survives.

With regard to FACT, Mr Kumar said he has already had three meetings with Kerala Chief Minister besides discussing the matter with MPs from the state.
