Government Prepared for Any Debate in Parliament, Says Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu

Madurai, Tamil Nadu: Appealing to the opposition for smooth running of Parliament, the government today said that it is prepared for any debate, seeking their co-operation for passage of important bills during the upcoming monsoon session.

Union Parliamentary Affairs minister told reporters, "In a democracy, debate and discussions are the only process for finding solution... the government is ready for any debate. The Opposition should not try to stall Parliament proceedings."

Opposition parties led by Congress is attempting to forge unity on the floor of the House to corner the government on key issues including the Vyapam scam, Lalit Modi controversy and the Socio Economic and Caste Census.

Mr Naidu said that the government was committed to the development of the country and that the Opposition should also cooperate in this regard, the monsoon session begins on July 21.

The Union minister had a brief stopover in Madurai, before he left for Virudhunagar to participate in the birth anniversary celebrations of the late Congress leader, K Kamaraj.
