Gang-Rape Survivor Allegedly Molested by NCP Leader in Maharashtra's Raigad

Raigad: A 14-year-old gang-rape survivor was allegedly molested by a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party or NCP in Maharashtra's Raigad district.

A case of molestation has been registered against Santosh Mandavkaas, the chief of the party's unit in Nagothane.

The girl, who was allegedly gang-raped on July 6 by two men, told police that on the very same day, the NCP leader had also molested her after offering to drop her home in his car.

"The youths, who allegedly raped her, dropped her at the highway near Nagothane village. On seeing her stranded, Mr Mandavkar offered her a lift and said he will drop her at her home in Borivali in suburban Mumbai. But he instead took her to a garage on the highway and allegedly molested her in a car," said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Roha, Amol Zende.

The two men who allegedly raped the girl have been arrested.

Mandavkar has been booked under Section 354 (A) (B) (sexual harassment), Section 506 (criminal intimidation) and Sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

Police are now looking for Mr Mandavkar, said sources.
