Forces Equipped to Counter Evil Designs of Pakistan: Ghulam Nabi Azad

New Delhi: Condemning Monday's terror strike in Gurdaspur, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad said security forces are fully equipped and motivated to counter evil designs of the Pakistani establishment.

Coming down heavily on Pakistan and its terror-manufacturing apparatus, he said India, in the past, has braved numerous attempts aimed at destabilisation or violation of territorial integrity.

And the people of the country and its armed forces have shown enough resilience and resolve to counter such cowardly attempts from across the border, he said.

Mr Azad said that our security forces have been ably fighting the Pakistan sponsored terror for the last more than thirty years and our security forces are fully equipped and motivated to counter the evil designs of the Pakistani establishment.

Mr Azad has strongly condemned the latest terrorist assault carried out by the terrorists at Dinanagar police station in Gurdaspur District of Punjab, a statement issued by his office said.

"India as a nation will resist all moves which tend to violate our borders, threaten our territorial integrity or jeopardise the security of the citizens," he said.

He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the Punjab police personnel and the civilians who lost their lives in the dastardly act and sympathies to those who got injured.

"My heart goes out to the families of those brave security personnel and the civilians who faced the bullets of terrorists," he said.

Lauding the role of Punjab police and the security forces, Mr Azad said people of Punjab and its police force very bravely fought the terrorist onslaught in eighties and it is fully prepared to rebuff any fresh attempts to foment trouble in the state.

He called upon the state government to sanction adequate ex-gratia relief for the kins of those who lost their lives and compensation for injured.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) strongly condemned the terrorists attack at Dinanagar bordering Kathua district of the state and expressed shock over the loss of lives.

In a statement, JKPCC chief spokesman Ravinder Sharma strongly condemned the terrorist attack, in which a Jammu-bound bus was targeted besides strike on a roadside eatery and a police station.

He strongly condemned Pakistan for its "treacherous activities" and continued support to terrorists even after the recent declaration in Russia, and said that Pakistan can not be trusted.

He said that such an attack especially when Amarnath Yatra is going speaks of the designs of Pakistan.

He expressed sympathies with all the victims of the terrorist action and prayed for peace to the departed soul, besides offering rich tributes to those who martyred in attack.
