Encounter in South Kashmir, 4 Armymen Injured, 2 Terrorists Killed

Acting on a specific input about the presence of terrorists in Shopian, the army and police launched a joint search operation.

Shopian:

Two terrorists were killed and four security personnel, including an Army officer, injured in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. A third terrorist is reportedly still hiding in a village in Shopian in South Kashmir.

The terrorists, identified by the police, as Shabiur Ahmad and Aashiq Ahmad Dar, were allegedly linked to the Hizbul Mujahideen.

The army and the police came to the village on Tuesday after specific inputs. The terrorists, hiding in a house, resorted to heavy firing on troops.

The army operation was halted due to heavy rains and snowfall on Tuesday evening. The firing resumed today morning and has been on for more than 24 hours now.
