Egypt statement: PM firm on India's stand

Egypt statement: PM firm on India's stand
New Delhi:

The Prime Minister said on Saturday that there is no difference in perception between the Congress party and the government on the Indo-Pak joint statement and that all talk of differences is a media creation.

His comments came a day after the Congress core group decided that the party will completely back the PM.

The Prime Minister, who spoke to reporters on the sidelines of a function to honour Bill Gates with the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace and Development, declined to discuss specifics of the joint statement.

"Parliament will discuss the issue soon and it would not be appropriate for me to comment. But I am confident  we have all the relevant answers," the PM said.

It is now settled that the government and the Congress party, that seemed almost silent on the PM's latest foreign policy move, will speak in the same voice from here on.

Four days from now, the Prime Minister is confident of addressing all question and he can be confident that his party will endorse his views.
