Deemed Universities row: Why students are worried?

New Delhi: More than 2 lakh students are on edge as 44 Deemed Universities face derecognition. The students are worried and here is why:

Each of these deemed universities will now be known as an affiliated college of the state university or state medical college. The big question on their minds is how smooth will the transition be.

These students will have to complete their courses and obtain degrees from the state universities but what's worrying them is how they will be graded by the state universities.

But what if the particular courses they are following are no longer taught by the state university. There is no clarification on that.

The government is still waiting for draft regulations of the UGC for declaration of institutions as deemed-to-be universities.

The government is in the process of finalising a legislative proposal for regulating the entry and operations of foreign education providers in India. (Watch: Why students are angry)
