Cut motion: BJP fumes over Soren betrayal

New Delhi: Is Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren and the BJP on a collision course? Jharkhand Deputy CM and BJP leader Raghuwar Prasad is in Delhi for a meeting with party president Nitin Gadkari over Soren siding with UPA in Parliament.

On Tuesday Shibu Soren voted for the UPA in the cut motion. This has taken the saffron brigade by surprise but both the Congress and the CM himself appear to be cool about it. (Read: Opposition splits, Govt defeats all Cut motions) | (What is a cut motion?)

Political analysts read this as a realignment of forces in Jharkhand, just in December 2009 BJP defended its tie up with the JMM after the tainted Soren's acquittal in two main cases from the Delhi High Court and from a Dumka court in Jharkhand.

Soren apparently kept the BJP leadership in the dark till the last moment that he will be present to vote.

The BJP thought that in the voting for the first motion, Soren made a mistake and voted with the UPA but could Soren have made a mistake for the second time even after BJP leaders corrected him?

BJP top brass is upset.

"On the one hand Shibu Soren is taking BJP's support and on the other hand voting against our cut motion. This has been taken into consideration and will be looked into the matter," said Shahnawaz Hussain, BJP Spokesperson.
