Court to hear Maya's disproportionate assets case

Lucknow: Mayawati's disproportionate assets case will come up for hearing on Monday.

Mayawati's advocate had sought an adjournment of the case on Friday and the CJI told him to mention on Monday. So the case may be adjourned.

CBI has informed the Supreme Court that it has taken a decision to file the final report in the DA case in the trial court. CBI had in January this year had also informed the court that it had enough evidence to prosecute Mayawati.

The CBI said assets shown by Mayawati in the Akbarpur parliamentary constituency were worth over one crore rupees whereas the assets were over 50 crores in her declaration papers submitted during the 2007 assembly polls. Mayawati has claimed that she had received the money through donations from party workers which included meagre sums of rupees five and rupees ten which they contributed on her birthday.
