Thane, Maharashtra: To press for their various demands, scores of conservation workers from Thane and neighbouring Palghar district will protest outside Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's official residence in South Mumbai tomorrow.

Vivek Pandit, President of Shramajivi Kamghar Sanghatana today alleged that the local self-bodies have ignored these workers.

"The local bodies do not adequately pay the workers and several workers who are on contract in various civic bodies are not being made permanent," he said.

"As a mark of protest, the workers will undertake a "safai abhiyan" (cleanliness drive) at 'Varsha', official residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister," Mr Pandit added.
