The Congress on Thursday said it was not in a hurry to initiate government formation in Jharkhand even as the BJP is set to meet the Governor to convey its decision to withdraw support to the Shibu Soren-led coalition.

"We are not in a hurry. We are closely observing the political situation in Jharkhand. For us, all options are open," AICC spokesman Mohan Prakash told PTI over phone from Delhi when asked about the Congress plan of action after the
BJP formally gives the withdrawal letter to the Governor.

"The Congress has always desired for a dispensation that could provide a transparent governance with development-driven goals in Jharkhand," he said.

For the seventh time in nearly nine years, Jharkhand has plunged into a political crisis after the BJP announced withdrawal of support to the JMM-led government and would hand over a formal letter in this regard to Governor M O H Farooq.

In a last-ditch effort to salvage its government in Jharkhand, JMM MLA and Soren's son Hemant last night extended an olive branch to BJP by asking it to review its decision and said Chief Minister Shibu Soren was ready to resign and a new leader could be installed, if the BJP so desired.
