Cold Wave Conditions Persist in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh:

Cold wave conditions continued unabated in Punjab and Haryana with minimum temperatures hovering several notches below normal in most parts of both states.

Amid piercing cold conditions, Amritsar in Punjab was the coldest place as it recorded minimum temperature at 3 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, a MeT department report said.

The minimum temperatures at Ludhiana and Patiala were recorded at 6.2 and 7 degrees Celsius respectively.

In neighbouring Haryana, Narnaul settled at 3.6 degrees Celsius while Karnal recorded 4 degrees Celsius temperature, four notches below normal.

Among other places in the region, the minimum temperatures at Ambala, Hisar and Bhiwani were recorded at 7.2, 6 and 5.6 degrees Celsius respectively.

Union Territory Chandigarh which saw bright sunshine this morning, recorded a low temperature of 6.6 degrees Celsius.

Yesterday, the maximum temperatures in both states fell sharply by up to seven notches below normal and hovered between 16 and 19 degrees Celsius at several places.
