Jaipur: Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Friday demanded the intervention of Central government to handle the drought situation in Rajasthan while accusing the state government of ignoring the state of affairs.

Addressing a public meeting in tribal area of Banswara district, Mr Pilot said the state government has become "blind" to the drought situation in the state.

"People and livestock are facing difficulties and crisis. The Central government should intervene in the matter," the Rajisthan Pradesh Congress Committee president said.

He said the state government has no emergency plan to address the situation and has not started any relief work under MGNREGA to provide employment to the needy people in rural areas.

Mr Pilot also alleged that the government was making policies which were against the interests of the farmers.
