Caught on Camera: Bus Brazenly Violated Rules Minutes Before Punjab Teen Was Pushed Off It

In CCTV footage, the bus is seen dangerously swerving to the right on a highway, just minutes before a teen passenger was pushed out of it

Moga, Punjab: Four days after a teenage girl died after she was molested and then pushed off a moving bus in Punjab's Moga district, CCTV footage has emerged of the bus being driven recklessly on a highway, just minutes before the incident.

In the video, the bus is seen speeding on the four-lane Moga-Kotkapura highway before dangerously swerving to the right, narrowly avoiding a collision with a tractor which was coming from the opposite direction.

The bus then halts on the opposite lane and picks up the cleaner Amar Ram who alongwith three others - including the conductor - later allegedly abused and groped the 14-year-old girl and her mother before throwing them off the bus.

This bus, belonging to Orbit Aviation which is co-owned by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal's family, had tinted windows and curtains, in blatant violation of rules.

Amid massive political protests over the minor's death and allegations that the company's buses often flouted rules, the Deputy Chief Minister yesterday ordered all buses to be taken off roads till the completion of an orientation course for the firm's bus operating staff.

The Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party have demanded that the company be shut down, referencing  the Uber case - the service was banned in Delhi for a brief period after a woman passenger was raped allegedly by a cab driver in December last year.

The father of the teen had demanded a case against Sukhbir Singh Badal and refused to cremate the girl. Today, however, the family accepted compensation after a meeting with government officials and have decided to cremate the teen.
