Bus set on fire, violence in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad:

The National Highway number 24 in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh became the scene of violent clashes between police and a mob on Saturday morning.

The mob was protesting against a government eviction notice from an unauthorised colony.

Angry protestors blocked the busy highway and set a bus on fire in the Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad.

When police tried to clear the highway, the protesters allegedly started throwing stones.
Police then resorted to lathicharge and also fired in the air.

These people were issued notice by the authorities two days back to move from the government land or else the illegal constructions will be demolished.

Protests in this area started just after receiving such notices but on Saturday, the protests turned violent.

The mob set 12 vehicles on fire including two trucks, three buses and other small vehicles.

The Tijarti cut-Hindon bridge has been closed and PAC has been deployed in the area.
