Bossism led to losses, says CPI

Bossism led to losses, says CPI
New Delhi:

After the Left's debacle in Kerala and in West Bengal in the general elections, the CPI has coined a new term to define what went wrong.

Speaking after a three-day meet of its highest body, the national council, the CPI said the main problem was 'bossism'.

"The Left Front governments in West Bengal and Kerala are not running as Fronts. There is a lot of unilateralism. There is a lot of bossism by the people in power," said CPI general secretary A B Bardhan.

But just who are these bosses?

"It's not from the CPI, Forward Bloc or the RSP," said Bardhan.

Aware that a war of words between the CPI and CPM would only make matters worse and help the Opposition in Kerala and Bengal, the CPM leadership appealed if there are differences they should be resolved within the Left Front.

"Differences should be resolved within the CPM," said CPM politburo member M K Pandhe.

The CPI says infighting in CPM in Kerala has affected the image of the government. But clearly it's Bengal that the comrades are more worried about. Last week, the Left got wiped out in as many as 13 districts of West Bengal in the municipal polls, and they can't stop the Opposition. Many argue the Left would lose its Red Fort.
