Border Security Force Office receives packet with detonator

New Delhi: A packet with pieces of a detonator was received at the office of the Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Delhi.

The detonator of a hand grenade was hidden in a book whose pages had been cut out.

Director General Raman Srivastava is away from Delhi on tour.

The parcel was reportedly sent through a private courier company based in Sonepat, Haryana.

After opening the parcel, the staff at the office informed the Delhi Police which rushed its bomb squad to the spot along with sniffer dogs. No explosives were detected.

The packet also contained a note complaining about salaries of the Border Security Force being lower than the army's. The BSF asked for parity in salaries but its request was turned down by the 6th Pay Commission.
