Mumbai: A Bombay High Court judge today recused himself from the hearing on a public interest litigation regarding a website which allegedly glorifies Nathuram Godse, Mahatma Gandhi's assassin.

"Not before me," said Justice VM Kanade when the PIL came up before the division bench comprising him and Justice Revati Mohite-Dere.

Ketan Tirodkar, the petitioner, said he would refer the petition to acting Chief Justice Vijaya Kapse-Tahilramani who may assign a new bench.

Mr Tirodkar, a former journalist, has sought registration of a criminal case under section 121 of IPC (waging war against the nation) against the people behind the website because it glorifies Godse.

Mr Tirodkar had sent a complaint by e-mail to Mumbai and Pune police but no case was registered, the PIL says.
