BJP Parliamentarian's Brother Allegedly Assaults Principal, Drives Car Over Him

Protests after Chhattisgarh parliamentarian's brother assaults school principal on Monday

Jashpur, Chhattisgarh:

The brother of a BJP parliamentarian in Chhattisgarh allegedly beat up a school principal before trying to run him over with his SUV on Monday. Vikramaditya Singh Judev, whose brother Ranvijay Singh is a Rajya Sabha member, is missing.

The police say Vikramaditya Singh attacked the principal, Parmeshwar Gupta, over a piece of land he had sold him in Jashpur a few years ago. Yesterday, he went to the spot, where the principal has begun work on a school building, and said the land belonged to his family.

Vikramaditya allegedly asked Mr Gupta to stop construction work at the site and the two argued. The police say Vikramaditya thrashed the principal and then drove his car over him, leaving him critically injured.

The police have filed a case of attempted murder against Vikramaditya. Parmeshwar Gupta, 55,  is in a hospital in Ranchi.

The incident led to anger among local people, who gathered outside the palace belonging to the Judeos, former royals of Jashpur, and protested.
