Bihar Police launches manhunt after Maoist attack kills 8 cops

Aurangabad: The Bihar Police has launched a massive combing operation in the Aurangabad district, more than 12 hours after eight cops were killed when their jeep was blown up by naxals near the Nabinagar town.
The police have also confirmed high intensity explosive devices were used by naxals in the attack , and that five automatic rifles were also looted by them.

Surender Singh Yadav was contracted to the Bihar Police's home guard division for about 24 years. He drove Bihar Police jeeps in naxal-affected Aurangabad district all these years

On Tuesday evening , Yadav was driving a police inspector , and 6 police jawans in Nabinagar area of Aurangabad when two powerful landmine explosions, one after the other, caused the death of all eight people on board . The cops were travelling back towards their base in Tandwa after attending a law and order meeting at Nabinagar

At Yadav' s village , relatives including his elder brother said he had asked for a transfer out of the naxal dominated area many times but they were turned down .

15 people, including cops and civilians, have been killed in Aurangabad in the last two months.
