New Delhi: S S Rajamouli's ambitious two-part epic Baahubali kept Prabhas and his co-stars occupied for five years but it was a tad more difficult for veteran actor Sathyaraj, who played senapati Katappa. Baahubali: The Beginning ended on the cliff-hanging note when Katappa killed Amarendra Baahubali, following which, all everybody wanted to know was the reason behind senapati's supposedly treacherous act. In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, Sathyaraj's daughter Divya revealed that the secret was well-guarded even from the family and that his actor-father faced the query almost always till the second part made it to the theatres. "I think that was the only secret he kept from me because we are the best of friends and tell each other everything. We knew the secret only when we watched the film. I have already seen the film twice and will be watching it with my granny (dad's mom) and dad again," Divya told Deccan Chronicle.

However, the Baahubali secret led to some healthy bullying on the part of Sathyaraj's children, who however, were certain of the fact that their father would not make any sort of revelation. "I did not ask him about it even once and neither did my mom or Sibi. I did bully him once though saying I would tell all my friends! Sibi and I would play guessing games in front of dad. He would simply smile and say nothing. Even if we had pestered him, he wouldn't have told any of us," Deccan Chronicle quoted Divya as saying.

Meanwhile in March, a month ahead of Baahubali 2's release, Sathyaraj finally came up with an answer to the question he was asked often, which had everyone in splits. "Producer Shobu paid me very well to kill Prabhas. My director Rajamouli asked me to kill Baahubali, and I obliged. Why would I kill darling Prabhas otherwise?" said Sathyaraj, who was speaking at a pre-release gathering for the film at Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City.

Spoilers alert for those who haven't watched Baahubali 2 yet

Katappa slayed Baahubali in order to obey Rajmata Shivagami's orders, who was duped into passing a death sentence for her own son by antagonist Bhallala Deva. The character of Shivagami is portrayed by Ramya Krishnan while Rana Dagubatti features as Bhallala Deva. Anushkta Shetty and Tamanaah Bhatia also reprise their roles in Baahubali 2.

Meanwhile, Baahubali 2 has become the first Indian movie to have made over Rs 1000 box office crores. The Hindi version of the film, which was distributed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, is also steadily heading towards the Rs 500 crore mark.
