New Delhi:

On his Twitter page is a brand new background. A tiled picture of Amitabh Bachchan in full Kutchi splendour, red turban, kohled eyes, earrings and all.

Some hours ago, the superstar, who is still trying to get a hang of the social networking site, tweeted: "Just back from a grueling day of some really interesting shoot.. will fill you in asap ..how to put pics on tweet?"

Within minutes he seemed to have it figured out and tweeted his first twitpic: "This then is a Kutchi dress for the shoot on Gujarat for tourism... http://twitpic.com/1shvnk." And then, "What  a day in Kutch. Palaces, temples, feeding jackals, eco friendly establishments.. read about it on my blog bigb.bigadda.com." (Read Big B's tweets)

Back to more familiar ground. While Bachchan Sr or SrBachchan is a new celeb on Twitter, he has been blogging for many months now, more prolifically than any other actor has perhaps.

On his blog, Bachchan says he felt "blessed and honoured" by the reception he received from locals in Bhuj when he arrived there to shoot for the campaign to promote state tourism.

Bachchan is the brand ambassador for Gujarat tourism, a role that had landed him in some controversy earlier this year, with political parties questioning a perceived alignment with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Bachchan was at pains to explain that his association as brand ambassador was not with the chief minister or his politics, but with Gujarat's tourism.

He is clearly happy to be playing that role. "As we make our way gingerly to the exit amongst hundreds of locals who have, armed with their mobile cameras and waving screaming hands, gathered outside to give me a warm welcome a la Garvi Gujarat style," Big B posted on his blog.

"I feel blessed and honored that even in this remote corner of my country there are still some who show affection. Some who still value a contribution that I may have been able to make in my career," he added.

"Different costumes, different looks, first impressions all keep pouring out until finally when they dress me up in the traditional Kutchi costume. The smiles and expressions of the entire creative team seems to spread wide and far," the actor posted.
