Akshardham attack: Supreme Court stays death sentence
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has stayed the death sentence for three persons convicted in the Akshardham Temple attack.

The men, who were given the death sentence by the Gujarat High Court in June this year, want the CBI to investigate the attack.

In September 2002, the Akshardham Temple in Ahmedabad was stormed by terrorists; 32 people died, including 28 devotees; close to 80 people were injured, as the attackers opened fire and threw grenades within the temple complex. Two gunmen were finally killed by commandos after a 14-hour crisis.
