Advani shied away from Kandahar event: Rahul
Dehra Dun: Hitting out at BJP leader L K Advani for often calling Manmohan Singh a "weak prime minister", Rahul Gandhi has accused the BJP's PM candidate of shying away from the fact of releasing dreaded terrorists at Kandahar and left it to people to decide which of the two leaders is weak.

"BJP is projecting him (Advani) as a strong leader but his own government released hardcore terrorists at Kandahar. Now, he says he did not know about that deal with the terrorists despite having been home minister in that government. Is this a sign of a strong leader, who does not want to take responsibility of his act," Gandhi told an election rally in Roorkee.

Speaking of the "resolve" with which Singh acted on the nuclear deal issue despite the Left's threat to withdraw support, the Congress General Secretary said, "The Prime Minister decided to go ahead saying that the deal is more important for the country than the government."

"You tell us, who is a weak leader -- Advani ji or Manmohan Singhji," Rahul asked the people at the rally in favour of party candidate Harish Rawat.

Calling Singh a "strong" Prime Minister, he said the description perfectly fits him as he talks about development, technology and taking the country forward.

Describing Congress as the only party which has suffered the most at the hands of terrorism, the Nehru-Gandhi scion said neither his party nor Manmohan Singh is scared of anybody.

"We have never been cowed down by terrorism, nor we would ever be in future," he asserted.
