Mumbai: Aamby Valley, the Subrata Roy-owned Sahara group's sprawling luxury township in Maharashtra's Pune district, was sealed for a few hours today by local authorities allegedly over non-payment of Rs. 5 crore as agricultural tax.

It was unsealed in the evening after the agricultural tax was paid, the local administration said.

Situated close to Lonavala, a popular tourist spot, Aamby Valley is spread over 10,000 acres and is said to be India's first planned hill township with residential complexes, hotels, spas, gymnasiums, conference and wedding halls, manmade lakes, golf courses and even an airstrip. In 2014, the entire project was valued at around Rs. 1 lakh crore and has been favoured by corporate India and film personalities.

Sahara founder Subrata Roy has been in jail for nearly two years now for failing to comply with the Supreme Court's order to return Rs. 36,000 crore which it says, the company owes to millions of investors in illegal bonds.
