40 Trains Diverted Due To Train Derailment In Hapur

Eight coaches of the train went off the rails between Kakather and Gadhmukteshwar in Hapur.

New Delhi: Around 40 trains running on the Delhi-Moradabad route have been diverted following a train derailment in Hapur on Sunday night, while nine passenger trains and four mail express trains were cancelled, an official said.

The Northern Railway said today that two of the coaches of the 14206 Delhi-Faizabad Padmavat Express which derailed on Sunday night have been righted and the track is expected to be repaired by 4 p.m.

"Two coaches of the train have been re-railed while remaining six have been kept off the track. We will pick them later. The track repair work is likely to be completed by 4 p.m. The General Manager of Northern Railways is himself at the site to monitor the repair work," CPIO (Central Public Information Officer) of Northern Railways Neeraj Sharma told IANS.

He added that around 40 trains running on the route were diverted while nine passenger trains and four mail express were cancelled.

"We have alternative route available. The diverted trains are running via Delhi to Meerut/Aligarh route," Sharma told IANS.

He said there were no serious casualties due to the accident.

"Two passengers sustained minor injuries," he added.
