4 Dead In Malda Explosion Were Trinamool Men Making Crude Bombs: Congress

The injured have been admitted to the Malda Medical College and Hospital.

Malda, West Bengal: Four people were killed and several injured in the Baishnabgarh constituency of Malda district in West Bengal today after crude bombs exploded in a bomb factory in the area. The Congress alleges that those killed are Trinamool workers who were making bombs that accidentally exploded. The Trinamool has denied this.

In South 24 Parganas district's Budge Budge, a similar incident has been reported resulting in the death of one person. Local opposition politicians allege that incident took place while a supporter of the ruling party was trying to dispose crude bombs stored at his house.

In another incident, a seven-year-old girl was beaten up on Saturday, allegedly by Trinamool men. On April 30, about 20-25 people came to the girl's house in the Haridevpur area of Behala East constituency in Kolkata looking for her grandfather who's believed to be a staunch CPI(M) supporter. This is the third instance of children hit in poll-related violence in this election season in West Bengal.

The police arrested three people the next morning, only after protests by people in the locality. One of them is a Trinamool block president. They were however let off on bail before they could be produced in court. Behala East is the constituency of Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee.
