36 Hour Weather Alert Sounded in Uttarakhand

A fresh 36 hour weather alert has been sounded in Uttarakhand

Dehra Dun, Uttarakhand: A fresh 36 hour weather alert has been sounded in the state by the Uttarakhand Meteorological department yesterday.

Earlier in the day members of the State Disaster Response Force assisted the 8th group of the Kailash Mansarover Yatra near Malpa where the path had been damaged due to incessant rainfall. The path was swept away in the rain and the SDRF had to build a temporary bridge to help the pilgrims cross over.

A landslip on the road connecting the hill town of Mussoorie to Dehradun caused inconvenience to locals and tourists alike who had to follow a queue system. The road has been closed for heavy vehicles.

On Wednesday night, a 19 year old girl and a boy were swept away in a Shakti canal close to Vikasnagar. A 17 member unit of the SDRF Flood team carried out search and rescue operations.

In another instance, three people of a family including two women were swept away while crossing a waterfall when they were returning home from Simog temple in Kalsi, one of them was rescued by local villagers.
