Srinagar: At least 12 Army soldiers were injured, seven of them critically, in an "accidental" explosion at an Army camp in south Kashmir's Pulwama district today.

An Army official told Press Trust of India that as many as "12 soldiers have been injured in the explosion at Core Battle School (CBS) at Khrew (in Awantipora area of Pulwama)."

Out of the 12, seven soldiers were critically injured and airlifted to 92 Base Hospital at Badamibagh Cantonment in Srinagar for specialised treatment.

The officer said it was not immediately known as to how the explosion happened. "It could be accidental. However, only an inquiry will establish the facts and nothing can be said at this time," he said.
