Hyderabad: Bodies of four people have been pulled out of the rubble of a six-storey building which collapsed on Thursday night in Nanakramguda, an information technology suburb in Hyderabad.

A woman and a child were rescued alive early this morning. 14 people were reportedly inside the building at the time of collapse and more survivors are unlikely, rescue officials said.

The residents were members of five families. Four belonged to tile workers and plumbers while one belonged to the building's watchman.

A team of the National Disaster Response Force or NDRF is helping the police in rescue operations.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishwa Prasad said violation of rules has been noticed in the construction of the building.

"The building was poorly constructed and flouted norms in the materials used, hence the collapse," said Bontha Ram Mohan, Mayor of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

Telangana Home Minister N Narsimha Reddy, Excise Minister Padma Rao and Cyberabad Police Chief had also rushed to the accident site.
