Woman Employee Gang-Raped In Gurgaon Hospital, Accused Arrested

The two accused, employees of the same Gurgaon hospital have been arrested on rape charges.

Gurgaon: A woman working as a duty attendant in a prominent Gurgaon hospital was gang-raped allegedly by her two colleagues inside hospital premises, a police officer said today, adding both accused were arrested.

The police said the incident was reported from the hospital located in sector-51 on July 30.

"A complaint was received to Gurgaon police control room by some hospital staff members about the gang-rape, the police reached the spot and recorded the statement of victim. We have registered a case under section 376d (gangrape) and other relevant IPC sections in Woman police station in Gurgaon, following the statement of victim," Assistant Commissioner of Police and PRO of Gurgaon Police Hawa Singh said.

The two accused Mani Ram and Pradeep took the victim to a corner, gangraped her and threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed their crime. But the survivor raised an alarm and shared her ordeal with other hospital staff who informed the police medical examination of the survivor confirmed gangrape, he said.

The survivor also recorded statement before city magistrate under Code of Criminal Procedure or CrPC section of 164.

Mani Ram, a native of West Bengal and his associate, Pradeep, a native of Mahendragarh in Haryana, were working as supervisors in housekeeping department in the hospital and associated with the hospital through an outsourcing company.

The accused men were produced in Gurgaon Civil court which sent them to 14-day judicial custody.
