Gurgaon: Relatives of Geetanjali Garg, the wife of Gurgaon Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravneet Garg, today held a protest blocking the NH-8 demanding his suspension and arrest along with that of his relatives.

Family members of Geetanjali had earlier started a campaign to garner public support for speedy investigation of the high profile case following which around 500 people including women and children from Ambala and Panchkula gathered for the protest.

The protesters first held an agitation outside the official residence of the Chief Judicial Magistrate and then moved to agitate outside the residence of the Sessions Judge to give a presentation.

They carried placards sloganing against the district administration and Gurgaon Police chief Alok Mittal. The protesters later moved on to block the NH-8 near Rajiv Chowk to organise a candle light march.

"The Gurgaon Police did not do anything for a week after the murder of Geetanjali," said Om Prakash Agarwal, father of Geetanjali told PTI. He alleged that the police traced two bullets cases after three days and one bullet case on the fourth day, now the police have claimed that one more bullet case has been traced while they are keeping mum about the whereabouts of the two other bullets cases.

Haryana police has already recommended the case to the CBI.

"We are expecting a notification within a couple of day and we will begin our investigation after that," a CBI official told PTI.

Meanwhile, Sub Divisional Magistrate Sachindra Duhan reached the spot but was not able to pacify the protester who later relented and lifted the protests following intervention by Gurgaon DCP Surender Singh Pal.

Agarwal presented a memorandum to the DCP demanding immediate arrest of the CJM before lifting the protest in the evening.
