62 acquitted in 2005 Honda mobike plant violence case

Gurgaon: A Gurgaon court on Tuesday acquitted all the 62 accused in the 2005 Honda mobike plant violence case of attempt to murder and other charges. The 62 accused included the office bearers of the workers union.

The workers' protest had rocked the Honda Scooters and Motorcycles unit in Manesar.

Additional Session Judge Falit Sharma acquitted all the accused as the Haryana government had withdrawn its charges against them in 2008.

"We are happy with the verdict of the court. The justice has been done to the workers. No accused had indulged in violence. It is a victory of the workers' truth, dedication and ideas," Ashok Kumar, president of Honda workers union, told IANS.
