Louis Berger Case: Former Goa Chief Minister Questioned By ED
Panaji: Former Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat was on Thursday questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Louis Berger scam in which Congress leaders and bureaucrats are accused of taking bribes from the US-based consultancy firm.

An official told reporters that Kamat was quizzed at the Enforcement Directorate office regarding the contract granted to the New Jersey-based company.

"He is also being questioned about file notings made by him as well as then PWD Minister Churchill Alemao," the official said.

Kamat was Chief Minister when the consultancy firm was granted a contract to oversee the implementation of a Rs 1,031 crore water and sewage augmentation project funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

Alemao as well as a senior Public Works Department official, Anand Wachasundar, the head of Louis Berger India, Satyakam Mohanty, have been arrested in connection with the scandal.
