New Delhi: Is this an early indication of a possible Bollywood rebellion against Koffee With Karan? You might have missed it in all the other headline-worthy quotes Ranbir Kapoor delivered in his podcast with comedy collective AIB but the 32-year-old actor claimed, without his characteristic diplomacy, that he really didn't want to be on the recent season of filmmaker Karan Johar's celebrity chat show. Ranbir also claimed that he and actress Anushka Sharma, his co-star from Karan Johar's film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, had planned to get the rest of Bollywood to band together against Koffee With Karan.

"You know Karan so well and he makes you so comfortable and you are chatting with him and you don't realise there are a billion people taking every word of yours seriously," Ranbir said while being interviewed by AIB. "I was forced this season. I told Karan I don't want to come in. Anushka and I were actually going to protest and get the film industry together to stop this because it's not fair because he's making money out of us. We come and we get scr****d through the year. It's not right," the actor added.

We don't know how much of that he really meant - because seems like Ranbir Kapoor has his tongue immovably in his cheek these days - but that's what he said.

This year, in something of a coup on Karan Johar's part, Ranbir Kapoor appeared on the same episode as actor Ranveer Singh - the connection here being actress Deepika Padukone, who used to date Ranbir and is rumoured to be currently dating Ranveer. Anushka Sharma shared the Koffee couch with Katrina Kaif. Ranbir has been on Koffee With Karan twice earlier, the first time with actor Imran Khan and the second time with cousin Kareena Kapoor.

Koffee With Karan is marked by its host's ability to elicit a couple of confessional or controversial or at least sensational admissions each season. This year, Kangana Ranaut called Karan Johar Bollywood's 'flag-bearer of nepotism' on her episode, provoking an exchange of fire that continues still. Ranbir Kapoor has largely avoided any such explosive remarks, although he was the focus of one - an early season featured Deepika Padukone accusing him of infidelity.

Ranbir Kapoor's appearance on the AIB podcast was in aid of his new film, Jagga Jasoos, co-starring Katrina Kaif. The film, which released a couple of years later than it was meant to, has tanked at the box office. Ranbir's father Rishi Kapoor blamed the film's failure on director Anurag Basu's 'irresponsible way of handling the film.' He told mid-day, "It was supposed to release three times in the past two years, but it kept getting delayed."

Jagga Jasoos was made at a budget of Rs 110 crore and has earned about half of that in two weeks in cinemas. Ranbir also told AIB that producing this film was a "big mistake."
