BJP workers attack protesters who black-flagged Shotgun

Clashes erupted today when Shatrughan Sinha went to file his nomination for the national election

Patna: BJP workers were caught on camera beating up a group of men who were protesting against party leader Shatrughan Sinha. The protesters waved black flags as the former actor was headed to file papers declaring him the BJP's candidate from the constituency of Patna Sahib in the capital of Bihar. The protesters alleged that Mr Sinha has not done enough for Patna Sahib, a constituency he has represented in the Lok Sabha since 2009.  Last year, posters announcing Mr Sinha was "missing" had been mounted in his constituency.

Mr Sinha, 67, yesterday said he had made it clear to his party that he would not relocate his political home to Delhi.

"I was asked about fighting the Lok Sabha election from Delhi but I told the leadership that Patna Sahib is my first, second and last choice," Mr Sinha told reporters.

There were reports that senior BJP leader Ravishankar Prasad wanted to contest from Patna Sahib.
