NDTV Opinion Poll: a Left turn for God's own country

New Delhi: NDTV's opinion poll shows that in Kerala, the Left has made significant gains in the last five years, at the cost of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), which has governed the state since 2011.

The UDF is expected to win nine of Kerala's 20 seats, a sharp drop from the 16 seats it won in 2009. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) is expected to score 11 seats, which is seven more than last time.

The BJP is expected to draw a blank, like 2009.

The last opinion poll about a month ago had predicted seven seats for the LDF and 13 for the UDF, but the Congress seems to have ceded ground to the Left since then.

The party has been battling allegations of corruption against the Oommen Chandy government
