New Delhi: As the BJP escalated its attack on Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra for his financial dealings, her political secretary Ahmed Patel spoke out in Mr Vadra's defence.

In an exclusive interview to NDTV from Bharuch in Gujarat, Mr Patel said that Mr Vadra has not been shown any special favours, daring the BJP to launch any inquiry they wish into his land purchases. When asked how Mr Vadra's finances have multiplied so rapidly, he said that he hasn't seen the details, but that the BJP is targeting Mr Vadra simply to target the Gandhi family.

Here are the highlights from the interview:

  • Let there be an inquiry into charges against Robert Vadra
  • Rajasthan government has ordered enquiry, let's wait for report
  • Mr Vadra is an individual doing his business, no favours were shown to him
  • The BJP has picked on the son-in-law, to target the Sonia Gandhi family
  • I have not got into details of Vadra's finances
