I will learn Bengali in jail: Narendra Modi mocks Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata: With Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee demanding his arrest, BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today said that she got angry with him for raising the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators which she herself had raised in 2005. "Didi gets angry with me as your love for me increases. She remembers me 200 times a day. I don't know what she says of me. But Didi, your every word is blessing for me," Mr Modi told an election meeting in Kolkata.

"You have raised the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators in Parliament in 2005. What you have raised in 2005, your brother is saying this today. But you are talking about sending me to jail. This is not justice. We did not expect this change. To save your chair, will you put Bengal's future in the dark?" Mr Modi questioned.

"We used to respect you. You fought the Leftist alone. We were proud of you, but in three years you have changed," he said.

Referring to Ms Banerjee's demand for his arrest, Mr Modi remarked, "You wanted to tie me with rope and send me to jail. But you don't have to waste money for issuing tender for buying rope. Just tell me which jail I have to go. I will go there myself. I am here. My first job in jail will be to learn the Bengali language," he said. Ms Banerjee had earlier accused Mr Modi of inciting violence in Assam and demanded his arrest for allegedly trying to instigate caste-based violence in West Bengal.
